One Rank, One Pension (OROP) : Same pension, for same rank and for the same length of service, irrespective of the date of retirement. Example if a Jawan has served till 1970 and other till 2014, both should get same pension. It was scrapped in 1973. After much agitation , many promises and supreme court rulings/reminders, it was kept on hold between various ministries by all the govts, leaving ex-army personal humiliated. Why it is important? Unlike civil services, army person often retire at age of 30-35 or whenever they are labeled as disabled/unfit for service, here liabilities are maximum. Eg. many retired soldiers and widowed of martyrs are getting 750 Rs. Last year then PM candidate Modi, Parrikar, VK Singh all blamed congress for not bringing white paper (assurance) and promised to implement it within 100 days, but himself not bringing white papers and manipulating the definitions.
